How Long will it take to Process my Application?

The amount of time for the state registry application review process varies. The current processing time for a med card application is 10-21 days. This period starts from the time the OMMU Registry receives payment. Once approved, the OMMU sends you an approval email. You can use the approval email as a substitute card to buy your medicine. If you are sending payment by mail, allow for an extra 3-5 days for approval.

Incomplete Applications

Sending an incomplete application will add more time to your account process. It’s important to keep an eye on the status of your application through the Medical Marijuana Use Registry, where you can also see updates. If you have any further questions or need assistance, call the state helpline at 800-808-9580.

Obtain a Florida medical marijuana card:

  1. Eligibility Check: Verify that you have a qualifying medical condition as recognized by the state of Florida. These conditions include, but are not limited to, cancer, epilepsy, glaucoma, HIV/AIDS, PTSD, ALS, Crohn’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and other comparable conditions.
  2. Physician Consultation: Schedule an appointment with a qualified physician who is registered in the Florida Medical Marijuana Use Registry. During the consultation, the physician evaluates your condition and, if deemed appropriate, they issue a certification for medical marijuana treatment.
  3. Registry Application: After receiving your physician’s certification, you need to complete your application in the Florida Medical Marijuana Use Registry. This will require providing proof of residency and paying the state fee.
  4. Approval and Card Issuance: The state will send you an email notification once it processes and approves your application. After approval, you’ll be issued a medical marijuana card which allows you to purchase medical marijuana from a state-licensed dispensary.
  5. Dispensary Visit: With your temporary or actual medical card, patients visit dispensaries to obtain prescribed medical marijuana. The staff at the dispensaries assist you in selecting the appropriate type of medical marijuana based on your physician’s recommendation, and they offer various forms.
